Vietnam 2013: Ha Long Bay

I can't believe it's been two whole weeks since I last blogged! Things have been way too hectic lately that I haven't the time to update this blog!

Since things are slowly calming down, here's another travel post for you!

The Ha Long Bay area view.

The docks were already packed when we got there. Since there were a lot of us, we got to have a whole boat to ourselves!

And I'm not talking about this boat.

I meant this boat! All the Pirates of the Caribbean feels.

I loved the interiors. It was made this way because the guests would usually eat their lunch as they cruised around the bay.

After a few minutes it was finally okay to move around we took group shots at the upper deck and then we were mostly free to look around freely.

Future wallpaper. Perhaps during the rainy season LOL.

It's about a 20-30 minute ride to the island and then from there you make your way up the trail to the main attraction which are the caves!

I was really thrown off when I saw this. For a split-second I thought the rocks really did look like this but it turned out to be colorful lights shining strategically to accentuate the rock formations.

The cave itself is super reminiscent of our very own Underground River in Palawan, but to be honest I had a lot more fun in the Underground River than here. Mostly because the guide was super funny and the rock formations resembled concrete objects and made it all the more interesting.

The rock at the bottom-left according the guide is shaped like a woman's breast and the pregnant women apparently touch it if they want their child to be a boy.

View outside the cave.

We made our way back down the mountain and back to the boat.

From there we started to sail back and also had lunch while we enjoyed the view!

If I'm not mistaken, this is called the Dragon's Teeth? Something along those lines.

Our lunch consisted mainly of seafood and it was really nice! All in all, I enjoyed our little expedition to Ha Long Bay, but afterwards, we headed back to Hanoi and it was yet another 4 hour ride.

Stay tuned for more travel posts! :D

  1. It is nice to see places you've never been. Proud to be Asian!

  2. I've always waned to go to Ha Long Bay! Did not know it was 4 hours from Hanoi. The underwater cave looks like so much fun!

  3. Well I won't wonder anymore if I see the caves here to be part of the new 7 wonders of the world soon. I never saw a cave such as beautiful as this!

  4. I will go to Vietnam one of these days...it is on my bucket list. How much would two people spend staying on a clean budget hotel?

  5. Ha Long Bay! After Angkor Wat and now this, you're really making me jealous by going to all of my "must visit next" S.E.A places! I should totally avoid touching that breast shaped rock if i go there when i'm pregnant then because i definitely want my next child to be a girl! LOL

  6. Wow! Vietnam is such a beautiful country!

  7. Wow those photos look great! Those islands are epic! Scanning through the photos first, I thought the cave and the limestone formations were colored then when I read through, I realized my eyes deceived me LOL Putting Vietnam on my travel bucket list.

  8. This is a different kind of nature tripping. The cave has drama because of the lighting.
